Satisfaction Guaranteed (Vinyl Japan ASK CD 97)

Here's a novelty for a tribute record - it's rather quite good. I've had a few bad experiences with tribute albums over the years, and generally tend to approach them with a high degree of pessimism, however this one is an exception to the rule and demonstrates how they can be a good idea if they're done right.

Showing how the influence of The Boys has spread around the world (especially in France. What is it with you French and The Boys?), this CD boasts a multi-national assembly of damn fine covers of damn fine originals.

From current press darlings, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant with a frantic "Soda Pressing", to long time Boys worshipers, Die Toten Hosen and their cover of "New Guitar In Town", each track is pretty much faithfully recreated and it all adds up to a very enjoyable CD. There's even a contribution from Boys guitarist, John Plain with a cover of his own record, "SAP", although I'm still trying to decide if it's OK to pay a tribute to yourself.
